How would you describe what you do in your current role?

I am currently responsible for sales and revenue growth in Central America and the Caribbean region. As well as building and maintaining strong relationships with our distributors and integrators.

What did you study in school? Did you always imagine yourself doing something like what you’re doing now or did the fates just take you in that direction?

I have a degree in criminal justice. I was a paralegal for many years at a Labor and Employment firm. It was rewarding at times but not my calling and not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Fate took me on a different path and I couldn’t be happier. I truly enjoy this industry even with all its challenges. It is way more fun than being in a court room.

How did your career path lead you to HARMAN?

I started working in the industry in Operations and Order Management. The transition to sales was organically. After many years it was about to take the leap of faith. Also, knowing the in and outs of many other departments is a big advantage to collaborating with my colleagues.

What is the most important thing you have learned over your career?

That you never stop learning. You can execute and move differently and still get results. My favorite quote is “ Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results”. I don’t have an ego, I am flexible and those are qualities that have gotten me very far in life.

Any other advice you would share with people just starting out in this industry?

Mirror your colleagues’ best practices. Take as many courses being offered to you. Stay in the known. People notice!!

What are you most proud of in your life?

My faith in God and my family for sure.

When did you realize you had a passion for music or audio? Was there any one band, song, or movie that did it for you?

For as long as I can remember I loved music. I am of the last generation that lived pre world wide web in childhood. I remember waiting an hour to download one song. It was soooo worth it. I had a Cassette player, Walkman, iPod, you name it. There is a song for every triumph, every breakup, every stage of your life that will live in your mind forever.

What current technology impresses you the most?

I always think anything is possible. I am always expecting the “new thing” I want to learn how to use it and don’t want to be left behind. I was fixing my mom’s internet at 13. It comes naturally to me. AI is a big thing now and I am taking courses to take advantage of all it has to offer.

Favorite music genre?

R&B, good for the soul.

The desert island question, of course. If you were marooned for eternity & could listen to only 3 albums, what would they be?

Rihanna- Unapologetic

Boyz II Men – II

Forrest Frank – Child of God

You have the floor. In closing, tell us anything else you want us to know about yourself.

I was born in Peru and migrated to the US at 12 years old. Peruvian food is rated one of the best in the worlds. If you haven’t tried, I highly recommend it. I am a member of the Peruvian American Chamber of Commerce. I enjoy networking, riding my bike, spending time with my family and doing some comedy improv here and there. Fun Fact: I am a notary public and have officiated two weddings and signed two divorce proceedings. 2 for 2…let’s see what’s next.
