HARMAN Luxury Update
Welcome Sound United
By David Tovissi
Vice President and General Manager
HARMAN Luxury Audio Group

Last week HARMAN officially acquired the Sound United brands from Masimo, and we take this opportunity to welcome our colleagues and their brands. Sound United’s portfolio includes some of the industry’s most iconic audio brands: Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, HEOS, Classé and Boston Acoustics. This milestone significantly expands HARMAN's core audio business and footprint across key product categories including home audio, electronics (amplifiers, hi-fi components, AVRs), headphones and car audio. By combining Sound United’s distinguished brands with our world-renowned audio expertise, we are creating one of the most comprehensive audio portfolios in the industry – offering consumers more choice, driving deeper innovation, and delivering exceptional listening experiences across every environment.
After the closing, HARMAN also announced that Lyle Smith, formerly GM, Global Markets for Consumer Audio, will lead the newly formed, stand- alone Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This structure ensures that each brand’s heritage, expertise, and loyal customer base remain central to their identity. With the backing of HARMAN’s global resources and scale, Sound United’s brands will gain greater reach with enhanced capabilities, while continuing to realize their distinct goals and better succeed in the marketplace.
At this time, we do not anticipate any changes to HARMAN’s or Sound United’s day-to-day business operations or the way the products are sold and distributed. Sound United will retain its sales force and processes and HARMAN’s sales force and processes will remain unchanged.
With both company's combined efforts, we are opening new doors for innovation and growth. Together, we’re shaping the future of audio – expanding possibilities, enriching experiences and driving transformation. We appreciate your trust in HARMAN and look forward to the journey ahead.
