How would you describe what you do in your current role?

My role in luxury audio team is as a Sales Director responsible for the China region. Besides setting sales strategies aligned with our company’s boarder business goals, which is my key responsibility, I led my team to build up diversified channels for sales growth and market expansion in China.

What did you study in school? Did you always imagine yourself doing something like what you’re doing now or did the fates just take you in that direction?

It has been many years since graduation. At that time, I studied an electronics-related major and had a strong interest in electronic products. At the same time, I always aspired to become a salesperson. I was fortunate to have caught the wave of the booming home theater market in 1998, and since then I have embarked on the path of audio equipment sales.

How did your career path lead you to HARMAN?

I have been working in the audio industry in China since 1998. I am familiar with various business areas, such as retail sales, channel sales, including installation and training. Furthermore, I ran my own business as tier-1/tier-2 dealer of one domestic brand in China. Later, I came to SHANGHAI and joined the JBL China National Distributor. In 2011, I joined the HARMAN family.

What is the most important thing you have learned over your career?

Persistent diligence opens doors no luck can. From hard work in study, continuous thinking about the market, and constant collaboration with colleagues, there always be a truth stands unchallenged:” Heaven rewards the diligent.”, which in Chinese is 天道酬勤.

Any other advice you would share with people just starting out in this industry?

Stay obsessively curious and maintain sensitivity to future market developments. Audio evolves daily. The minute you stop learning, you become background noise.

What are you most proud of in your life?

My family. I have gratitude for my parents who have taught me what is love and my beloved offspring.

When did you realize you had a passion for music or audio? Was there any one band, song, or movie that did it for you?

When I entered the audio industry in 1998, I was deeply impressed by the magical Dolby theater effects and the high-quality hi-fi music. There are lots of movies and pop-music that influenced us in that time. It seems like that I found a new world.

What current technology impresses you the most?

Spatial audio and immersive sound field reconstruction technology impress me the most right now. It’s not just a feature upgrade; it fundamentally redefines how sound is presented and experienced.

Favorite music genre?

The right music for the right occasion, pop-rock and contemporary folk is always the best music.

The desert island question, of course. If you were marooned for eternity & could listen to only 3 albums, what would they be?

  • Cui Jian-Rock Music on the New Long March Road.
  • Beyond-Beyond
  • Eagles-Greatest Hits

You have the floor. In closing, tell us anything else you want us to know about yourself.

Although the journey may be long, keep walking would be the way to reach your destination. No matter how complex and difficult it is ahead, I will always be enthusiastic and passionate to Audio Industry and be creative and resilient.
