Meet the HARMAN Luxury Audio Team
Name: Matt Morgan
Position/Job Title: Sales Manager - United Kingdom
With Meet The HARMAN Luxury Team, our goal is for you to get to know us better. In each edition we feature a different member of the team, and this month it's Matt Morgan, Sales Manager, United Kingdom.

How would you describe what you do in your current role?
I am a regional Sales Manager covering the North of the UK and Ireland. I manage the relationships with our retail partners including sales, colleague training and events.
What did you study in school? Did you always imagine yourself doing something like what you’re doing now or did the fates just take you in that direction?
I studied Sound Technology (BSc) for a degree and had plans to open a recording studio with a friend from university. I got a job at a local Hi-Fi retailer to raise some funds and found I had a passion for the products and thrived in the sales environment. I progressed through the company from Store Manager to Purchasing Manager for Hi-Fi and AV. After a number of years working in retail I made the move to Sales Manager for a manufacturer 12 years ago and haven’t looked back since.
How did your career path lead you to HARMAN?
I was approached by HARMAN whilst working in a similar role for another manufacturer. Knowing the fantastic range of brands that HARMAN represent made it a very easy decision for me to join the team and the last six and-a-bit years have been the best of my career so far.
What is the most important thing you have learned over your career?
People buy from people, whether that’s one-to-one sales to end-users or larger B2B negotiations, relationships are the key to success.
Any other advice you would share with people just starting out in this industry?
Listen and learn but ultimately love what you do, this isn’t a ‘normal job’. We’re blessed to work with products that people love and are passionate about – music brings people from all walks of life together and we should feel lucky to be a part of that process.
What are you most proud of in your life?
My children. I’m lucky to have two energetic and loving boys (3 & 7) who keep me on my toes.
When did you realize you had a passion for music or audio? Was there any one band, song, or movie that did it for you?
My Mum was a piano teacher so I have been around music all of my life. My Dad introduced me to the Beatles on a classic separates system when I was young and I was fascinated by what all the knobs and buttons did. I can play multiple instruments myself and both of my brothers are drummers in bands. I feel I was always destined to work in or around music in one way or another.
What current technology impresses you the most?
AI is going to change the way the world works, I don’t believe it will replace people in most jobs (people buy from people!) but it will make how we work more efficient and streamlined.
Favorite music genre?
It’s an eclectic mix from bluegrass to folk to prog rock to EDM – I’ll watch anything live.
The desert island question, of course. If you were marooned for eternity & could listen to only 3 albums, what would they be?
Impossible question but if you held a gun to my head I’d say;
- Pink Floyd – Dark Side Of The Moon
- Mystery Jets – Curve Of The Earth
- The Prodigy – Music For The Jilted Generation
You have the floor. In closing, tell us anything else you want us to know about yourself.
I am a passionate Everton Football Club fan (for better or worse). My wife and I are halfway through our second house renovation, we do the vast majority of the work ourselves including Joinery, Electrics, Plastering and Plumbing. It has been hugely rewarding to learn a multitude of skills and use them to improve our home environment for the benefit of our two boys.
