With Meet The HARMAN Luxury Team, our goal is for you to get to know us better. In each edition we feature a different member of the team, and this month it's James Xie.

How would you describe what you do in your current role?

Challenging, but inspiring. With great teamwork we have been able to achieve business growth.

What did you study in school? Did you always imagine yourself doing something like what you’re doing now or did the fates just take you in that direction?

I majored in Logistic Materials and Supply Chain Management.

How did your career path lead you to HARMAN?

I think it was fate that brought me to my position at HARMAN!

What is the most important thing you have learned over your career?

Whenever possible, learn from others and take advantage of their experience. Once you become experienced yourself, repay your mentors by becoming a mentor yourself. Most importantly, never give up.

Any other advice you would share with people just starting out in this industry?

We work in an amazing industry, full of great sound and vision. Enjoy your journey even though sometimes it gets tough. Never be afraid to ask for help.

What are you most proud of in your life?

Having a happy family and worthy job.

When did you realize you had a passion for music or audio?

20 years ago I really fell in love with music.

Was there any one band, song, or movie that did it for you?

The movie “Brave Heart”.

What current technology impresses you the most?

AI is fascinating and I follow developments very closely.

Favorite music genre?

Classical music is by far my favorite genre. Symphonic music is grand and eloquent.

The desert island question, of course. If you were marooned for eternity & could listen to only 3 albums, what would they be?

Besides my job, I really am passionate about basketball, football, bicycling – there are still many sports I want to have fun at and enjoy.
