CEPro Masters 2024

This month, CEPro Magazine paid tribute to a select group of engineers and individuals who have made significant contributions in the audio industry. This year’s esteemed list of industry leaders included HARMAN Luxury Audio’s Sr. Director of Product Strategy and Planning, Jim Garrett
Often this recognition goes to folks behind the scenes, but in Jim’s case he is our face and voice of the Luxury Audio business unit. Before I joined HARMAN nearly five years ago, I was researching the people who worked within the Luxury Audio group. I remember typing in Jim’s name and title in the Google search bar and watching the screen fill with articles and videos featuring Jim. I was eager to meet the Man, the Myth and the Legend on my first day at the Northridge office. It didn’t take long for me to realize that Jim had an incredible amount of experience and historical knowledge of every product that HARMAN had ever manufactured. I also learned that Jim was a Film and Music Major in College which explains why he had such great stage presence. There isn’t a tradeshow that we attend that I hear someone in the crowd acknowledge that they had seen Jim on YouTube or another video interview.
Like many of us in the industry, Jim’s audio career started in retail. From small specialty stores to Best Buy, Jim immersed himself in learning everything he could about audio reproduction. As a talented musician, and a mainstay in the CE Pro All Star Band at CEDIA Expos he knows what the music sounds like LIVE, so he is determined to recreate that experience in the products he helps us develop.
I am proud to see that others in the industry recognize Jim for what he has and will contribute to our industry. Speaking on behalf of the entire Luxury Audio team, we are fortunate to work closely with Jim on a daily basis.
