Peter Tyson


The HARMAN Luxury Audio Group is proud to have some of the best high-end consumer electronics partners across the globe. Each month, we have the pleasure of learning a little bit more about one of our dealers or distributors. 

Peter Tyson was a man who understood the importance of great service. Although the family business has grown exponentially since Peter opened his first TV repair shop on West Tower Street in Carlise, England in 1966, his character and personality made him known locally as “The Name You Can Trust” – this company motto still underpins the ethos of the family business. With three locations and 50 employees, we sat down with Matthew Tyson to catch up with the latest.

What is Peter Tyson's mission?

The mission for us at Peter Tyson’s is the same as it has been for nearly 60 years, deliver incredible service, competitive prices and improve people’s lives everyday through technology.

Thoughts on the importance of training?

Training is paramount in any business serious in delivering premium service. We offer our teams brand training with all of our main partners and complement this with system building, and the building blocks of hi-fi from more senior members of our sales team.

What do you like most about HARMAN Luxury Audio products and which lines do you feature?

    We love the build quality and design of the HARMAN brands, they really put the user first and deliver on all fronts, most importantly sound quality.

    How do you think the luxury audio industry is currently doing?

    We have a varied business and cover most price points with domestic and commercial offerings and luxury audio has been one of our strongest growth areas in the last few years. I think if you have the passion and knowledge for your brands and delivering the best then there are opportunities for great business.

    You have the floor. Anything else you want to share with us about Peter Tyson that you would like the world to know?

    I think it’s important to remember how lucky we all are to work in such an incredible industry. Things are not always easy but it’s a joy to work with brands like JBL and ARCAM and others to deliver incredible experiences to our customers.
